Sound Scouts Founder, Carolyn Mee, speaks on the award and the use of data to deliver digitally driven hearing testing:
- ” Sound Scouts is honoured to have received the Data Innovation Award for Best Startup this year. The award recognises our unique approach to using game play to collect data and deliver fast, clinically validated indications of hearing impairment in children. Data collected by Sound Scouts is analysed via a cloud based algorithm and over our development cycle we have continuously refined our ability to interpret the data generated from the game.
We are proud to be collaborating with Australia’s premier hearing research lab, the National Acoustic Laboratories, and their colleagues at Hearing Australia. Dr Harvey Dillon our Chief Scientist, has been uncompromising in his rigorous assessment of our data collection and analysis. As our Chief Data Wrangler, Harvey has done an incredible job!”
Presenting the awards on the day were Australia’s Federal Assistant Minister for Innovation & Science, the Hon. Craig Laundy MP and New South Wales Minister for Innovation & Better Regulation, the Hon. Matt Kean MP, with industry leaders and influencers in attendance.
